  10. 1 paper in ACM-SenSys and 2 papers in ECCV with one of them being an oral are some energizing rewards of ICAN's efforts in developing smart systems that partition transformers across the device and servers (ApproxBit, ACM SenSys 2026), help retrieve the "lost" negation signal from CLIP (PeakPatch, ECCV oral 2026), and rightsize vision language models by jointly optimizing the vision tokens and compute (SmartVL, ECCV 2026). Together, these reflect ICAN's core bet that the future of AI systems is not bigger models but rightsized ones, where every bit, patch, and token earns its place across the device-server boundary. Also, an academic grant from NVIDIA and a newly minted PhD from ICAN! ICAN is revved up for sure.

A little impromptu list of awesome-10-things so far so had to leave out some highlights for sure! These should give you a glimpse of ICAN and its vision and its positive energy for the world! Proud of the students who made these happen, and more to come in the second half!


+1: And as if 10 are not enough, here is the +1 awesome tidbit, Prof. Chaterji spends an awesome few weeks at MIT's Schwarzman College of Computing visiting Prof. Chuchu Fan's group and giving a talk and seeing how her robots and terrific bunch of highschoolers (RSI, MIT), grads, undergrads, postdocs, and visiting students thrive!
